OUR MUD KITCHEN

Today we finished off the Mud Kitchen with a few utensils and thrift store finds. Then it was time to get stuck in making mud pies. Grateful for Poppa who put this together for the kids. A total spend of five bucks thanks to a stack of wooden pallets on the side of the road accompanied by a ‘Free Firewood’ sign, workmates throwing out the kitchen sink, and some marine ply...

GREYTOWN HONEY

When your friends are local Beekeepers and you say you’d love to know where the honey you are eating comes from… expect to be shown. Up close and personal (and without a bee suit!) I watched as Alex from GREYTOWN HONEY split a couple of hives in scenic Gladstone. Grateful for the educational tour and that despite only having a wide angle lens on my camera, I was able to get in...

AUTUMN AT LAKE FERRY

Today we drove forty minutes out to Lake Ferry, a small settlement between the shores of Lake Onoke and Palliser Bay, Wairarapa. There we stood on the gravelly shore and looked out across the Cook Strait. There was heat in the Autumn sun but the air was so crisp and clean. There is little sand here, instead dark stones, and also the most beautiful light coloured driftwood. In abundance. It is...

TOOTHLESS

It was only this morning I took a photo of our eldest, documenting his ever changing smile and the transition from goofy gaps to his current oversized fangs. And yesterday I checked our daughters teeth for any wiggly ones – signs that she might soon be requiring a visit from the Tooth Fairy. There was slight movement in her lower right tooth. Nothing considerable, so minor in fact that I wondered if it was hope deluding me...

WILDHEARTED & HITCHED

Late last year I was invited to collaborate with and document the WILDHEARTED & HITCHED team. These three amazing women, a photographer, celebrant and florist, are specialists in creating extraordinary elopements. Their work individually and together is perfection. WILDHEARTED & HITCHED Photography: Erica Wheadon Celebrant: Candice Wilson Florist: Gypsy & Bloom Shoot styled and images edited by Erica Wheadon...

EMMA MAKES EXHIBITION

Tonight was the opening of the first artist exhibition at escVelocity, Featherston. It was host to local creative EMMA MAKES, a talented printmaker and textile extraordinaire. Her show ‘Fly Away Home’ featured a unifying theme of flora and native birds and it was gorgeous. It has all the feels of home, Chrysanthemums, Kiwis, Piwakawaka and more. The newly finished space was perfection, bringing together the community and art lovers in a joint celebration of Emma...

WILSON FAMILY

I’ve known this family for years and am so lucky to call them friends. Was absolutely amazing to be able to photograph them during a trip to the Gold Coast, there is nothing like having the golden sands and aqua ocean of Burheigh Heads as your backdrop. It was the windiest day though, and to be honest, I love these photos more for it. Thank you Wilson Family....
