Tonight was opening night of the much anticipated ‘Diamonds & Rust’ exhibition at EscVelocity, where amazing and beautiful art occupied an equally amazing and creative space.

Walls and floors were filled by two artists; NIKO THOMSEN (wrought iron sculpture) and MELINA MARTIN (printmaker). Using two very different mediums and styles, their work was brought together seamlessly by earthy tones and New Zealand’s spectacular native birds, flora and fauna.

I loved candidly documenting the exhibition, capturing how people, space and art all interact and the stories intertwined. I especially loved that a young artist was asked to do 10 second sketches of everyone who passed through. What a fabulously creative idea for the guest book!

Another amazing showcase of local talent and creativity, and a wonderful feature of the KOKOMAI festival.
